Hi, Great blog, Just going the same route now so its proving quite informative.

Just wanted to add that Accuma sorted my IVA and i have just come to the conclusion that they seemed to come out of it better. I feel BR should have been my best option but they implicitly steered me toward an IVA... seems even when you've got nothing left theres always one more ready to rip you off.

oh well

Thanks Jo, I know how scared I was so hopefully I can help someone else! My IVA hadn't technically failed, but as I knew I couldn't afford the repayments and I couldn't have a variation my IP recommended that I go BR. I was originally going to wait until it actually failed in May (after 3 missed payments) but I decided to get it out of the way as soon as I could.

Well done Skippy, a really interesting blogg. I think it goes a long way to dispelling some of the myths about bankruptcy.
I'm interested to know wether your IVA had to fail before you could petition for bankruptcy or were you able to apply while the IVA was still in force.

They did away with the £50 incidentals and reduced my holiday fund from £50 to £20 - I'm not surprised really! Good luck for your meeting next week x

Quite scary seeing your life divided up like that, into sub titles and figures. Really makes you think about where every thing is going and its shocking how it all adds up.
Good luck to you

Hi. i really enjoyed reading your blog. Because I know exactly what you mean about control. When i first started looking into solutions there was so much blurb and jargon that I felt overwhelmed and nobody seemed to be actually fighting my corner. I mean i know that the debt was my fault due to irrational spending but I was also brave enough to stand up and accept my problem and ask for help. but what i needed was non-bias genuine help. i really felt like shouting ARGH when looking at all the suggestions. I have now, having gone through a few IP's (!), actually found some one who I got on well with and helped me. Im starting on my IVA next week and cant wait, I feel like its all going to be lifted off my shoulders. But I wish the journey hadnt been quite so gruelling. Good luck Skippy, some times faith and sheer determination is all you have left. xxxx
